What do we do?   Universal Pediatrics is Iowa and South Dakota’s largest provider of home health care focusing on one-on-one nursing services for the pediatric and young adult population.  We have over 30 successful years in business and have proven to be the premier choice for pediatric home health care!

What would you be doing?  This role requires Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses to dive into the fun of being a kid while providing quality care.   We help kids integrate themselves, as best they can, into school, family, extracurricular activities, and the community while promoting and maintaining their health and safety.  You would assist families to learn, provide, and succeed in caring for their medically complex kiddo with consistency, skill, and passion.  

In this role, some days you will have a lot of fun!  There will be games, laughing, learning, and adapting.  Some days may challenge your abilities to critically think as a nurse.   But each day, you will feel reward and pride in the services and support you provide.

Every client’s needs are different, but key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Completing assessments, medication administration, and providing therapies, treatments, and interventions as scheduled in accordance with the plan of care and physician’s orders.
  • Partnering with all members of the interdisciplinary team including the family, ensuring a constant flow of communication regarding the client’s cares, changes in condition, developmental goals, etc.
  • Providing support and education to clients and families to help them be successful.
  • Build rapport and trust with clients, families or other caregivers, the office team, and peers to facilitate effective communication and build relationships.
  • Complete charting timely through our electronic medical record system. 
  • Keep up to date with the client’s plan of care, changes in conditions, physician’s orders, family, or caregiver requests, etc.
  • Be a cheerleader for the client and families to promote growth and development.

What’s required?

  • Active Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse licensure, without restrictions.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of auto liability insurance coverage.
  • CPR certification required but may be obtained after hire.
  • COVID-19 vaccine compliance.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
